Vinton's "Big Read" Project

Big Read is an initiative led by the Vinton Public Library to celebrate the arts and humanities and strengthen community connections by inviting everyone to read the same book and participate in a variety of community activities related to the themes of the book. The Guild is one partner in the Big Read initiative, along with Benton County Conservation and the Palace Theatre. To learn about all of the many activities involved in Big Read, download the entire program calendar, and register for events, visit the VPL website.
NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. In addition, local supporters include the Charles and Helen Yundt Charitable Foundation and Friends of the Vinton Public Library.

The 2025-26 Big Read is focused on the excellent book, "Bewilderment" by Richard Powers. Free copies are available at the Library and other locations around town. In collaboration with our partners, Guild members are taking the lead on two Big Read activities: 1) Paints & Pollinators art activity; 2) Big Read Art Contest. Registration & additional info is available at www.vinton.lib.ia.us.
