Community Murals

The Vinton Guild of Fine Arts (VGFA), is dedicated to creating and promoting public art in the Vinton community.  In 2021, we initiated a Back Alley Art project in partnership with Pourville Art Studio to create whimsical, interactive murals in downtown alleyways.  Since then, we've broadened the initiative to include other kinds of murals downtown and around the community.  Some murals have been painted by individual artists from the Guild, and other times we invite community members to paint panels that have been designed and penciled in by lead artists.  Costs are typically covered by donations from individuals and local business owners, with occasional local grant support as well.

Vinton is also fortunate to have 13 large murals painted by the nationally-known Walldogs, typically with commercial and historically oriented images.  The Walldogs murals were commissioned by the Vinton community in 2000 and again in 2019 for the city's sesquicentennial celebration, paid for by donations from community members.
