I was raised in Davenport and went to college at State Teachers College now known as UNI. I lived in Waterloo, Ia where I worked in the medical lab as a cytotechnologist. I moved to California and lived there until I moved to Vinton in 2005.

    I didn't start painting until I was 61 when I took an adult education class on beginning painting. Up till then I had no interest in creating art. I found painting absorbing, but more than that it opened up my environment to me. I started seeing shades of color I never noticed before. I saw shapes and forms I never noticed. For me that is the best gift art has given me, seeing my world with new eyes.
