The Wonders of Watercolor

In completing a masters program under my mentor and good friend Don Matting, I was encouraged to focus on one medium for solo exhibitions. Watercolors became my passion. After one hundred “experimental paintings” I began to better understand the variety of papers and the soul of watercolors (or should I say attitude). They can be extremely challenging, I could compare the act of painting to a wrestling match. You prepare, train hard and set out to do your best, but the end results are often a gift, the grace of God. Yes, I wanted to master every technique of handling the medium but you learn to stay humble. Ultimately the goal is to create a painting that says just enough to make those visual connections.

The discounted fees for this workshop are due to the generous support of the Vinton Community Foundation.
